In Other News

The weather today was warm and sunny and the afternoon rush hour came right on time. The train ride was pleasant and I had a Nutella sandwich.

And in other news,
people are getting old in an unusually short amount of time:

At 1:00pm of February 22, 2010, Model Genesis was a 20 year old young lady.

Then at 3:00pm of the same day, she aged 30 years more.

Oh art, how how I love thee. :)

Here's my other work on a hand:

Left hand was the one worked on and the on the right is the make-up free, youthful hand.

Here's my partner's work on my hand:

On The First Day

It was my first day of classes in Cinema Makeup this day! I had to catch the 7am train though so I didn't get the chance to make myself breakfast. I sorta jogged to the train station to make it there on time too. haha. I was on time, people! :)
(The street at 6:50 in the morning)

I got to class ten minutes before the start of class. I met my classmates and I was surprised how there 8 different nationalities were present in the class. In my class there was a Peruvian, a Brazilian, German, Japanese, Vietnamese (I think), Australian, several Americans (of course), and me the Filipino. It was fun!  The lecture was great. There was a screen that zooms in on the professor and the model  he's putting make up on. Today's lesson was on stage make-up: aging. After lunch, we tried it out on each other. We were paired up and we tried to make each other look 30 years older. I was paired with my Japanese classmate named Maiko. We got along great. I painted her face first then she painted mine.

Here's my work:

Model: Maiko
Made to look to about 5o years old
Actual age: 25

Here's Maiko's work:

Model: Lora
Made to look to about 60 to 70 years old
Actual Age: 20

The Start of the Adventure

I'll be away from my normal lifestyle for 5 months. My family is back in the Philippines and I'm staying with my relatives for the mean time here in the California. On the weekdays I'll be staying with my aunt in LA city and then on the weekends I'll be living with my other relatives away from the city.

This is a big thing coz this will be the first time I'll be away from my Mom, Dad, and siblings for a long time. The longest I've been away was 3 days and 2 nights and it was all organized by my high school. I'd be allowed sleepover rarely but it would really just be in my aunt's house, which is about a 2 minute walk from my house. So.. you see? These 5 months for me is a MAJOR crash course on independence.

I was buying stuff I'd be needing for my apartment: pillow, bedsheets, bathroom and kitchen stuff, groceries, etc... Goodness, it was not easy :| My mom usually made all the household-needs decisions. The mere decision on what kind of pillow I should buy was freakin' hard! There were too many factors to consider: price, type, size, other needs versus wants. I miss my mom..

Haha. I got half of the stuff I need anyway though probably at thrice the time it would take my mom to do it. My Ninang Tiffy helped me out though, so that helped speed things up a little in Walmart. Haha.

Oh Independence, I didn't think you'd be this way.

(It took me 30 minutes just to pick out a pillow)
